DeepPassion by Mateja

Mateja Komel, creator of unique handmade silver jewellery, who loves photography and enjoys all the niceties of life.
Art has been a part of my life ever since I was born and now I have finally found a little piece of me in it. My inspiration and endless passion has always been the vast sea, therefore I always ponder how to merge the beauties of the sea world with my work which is designed for all those who wish to carry a bit of the sea with them forever. Quite a few people have a special connection with the ocean. Some of them are fascinated by secrets of the Davy Jones locker, others cherish the wind in their sails. Nevertheless, some people just adore the sea for being amazing just the way it is.
My fascination is not limited to the sea; it stretches on to different things and explores other worlds, the four seasons, different moods, events, people and special occasions. When my thoughts drift there, my work changes. These pieces present a great challenge for me.
Everything I do is entangled with passion, as life without intense feelings seems pointless and dull to me. My life motto – do it with passion or not at all! It is my inner strength, my driving force that makes me create and love the whole world around me in all its shades. The heart, however, is always there ...
»It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye« said the Little Prince ...

"There are many things in life that will catch your eye, but only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those."

The vast sea is my inspiration, my inner peace, my cosy shelter, my love, my relaxation, my deep passion, my life, my second home. It simply feels like home to me.

A story is the beginning of an idea. It can be connected to a certain moment, beautiful memories, inspiring sea side, special someone, interesting animal, unusual challenge or to a pure momentary inspiration.

I design the shape of my jewellery either slowly, after giving it a good thought, or promptly when I escape from reality for a short precious moment. When an idea is born, however, I draw it on a piece of paper and improve it afterwards. The majority of shapes are not very complicated because I believe that simplicity is the keynote of all true beauty.
